Have lunch in the picturesque fishing village of Sesimbra. Enjoy 2 wine tastings (Moscatel and Red Wine), on a guided tour of an old wine cellar. Finally, we stopped at Cristo Rei, then returned back to Lisbon by the 25 de Abril bridge.
Following a pick-up from your hotel in Lisbon, turn south to Palmela, passing by longest bridge in Europe, Vasco da Gama Bridge. Then drive to the highest hill where Palmela Castle is situated. Get some photos from a beautiful view of the lands and sea around.
The Serra da Arrabida provides some of the most stunning natural scenery of central Portugal. This beautiful region encompasses the forested hills, picturesque beaches and towering cliffs, that spans the southern side of the Setubal Peninsula. Within these varied landscapes, you will discover a region rich with activities and sights. There are challenging hiking routes, scenic mountain roads, paradise beaches and a coastline ideal for sea-kayaking.
The Castelo de Palmela is a huge fortified complex that stands atop the eastern edge of the Serra de Arrabida hills. This high vantage point of the castle provides stunning views over both the Tagus and Sado estuaries and made it of strategic importance for early Portuguese dynasties but surprisingly the castle experienced very little actual fighting since the Christian conquest of the Moors in the 12th century. The Castelo de Palmela is impressive from the distant lowlands and grows to dominate the skyline closer to the village of Palmela while the grander and imposing allure of the castle is not diminished on visiting the interior of the national monument. Inside the castle’s walls is the Igreja de Santiago church, the espaços museum and the entire castle to explore which from the battlements provide fantastic panoramic views over the region.
Sesimbra is one of the finest beach resorts in Portugal. The town is adored by the Portuguese who flock to the region for their holidays, drawn by the pristine coastline, social atmosphere and freshly cooked seafood. Sesimbra is a wonderful holiday destination that offers glorious beaches, interesting day trips and a relaxed ambience. Sesimbra’s unique appeal is that the town is primarily aimed for Portuguese tourists, making it is an ideal location to embrace and immerse in Portuguese culture. As Sesimbra is designed for Portuguese tourists, you can expect great food, late nights and exceptional value for money.
Descending the road reach the fisherman village Sesimbra where you’ll have free time for a traditional Portuguese lunch. Feel the sand of the Sesimbra beach.
After lunch you going to visit a wine cellar, producing wines since 1834. You'll get to know the essence of a Wine production family with almost 200 years of history, where the values passed down from generation to generation are kept alive while allowing the company to project itself into the 21st century. Enjoy an unparalleled wine and gastronomic tasting experience. Wine degustation included in the price.
Cross the extensive 25 de Abril Bridge to reach the Statue of Christ, one of the symbols of Lisbon. Constructed in 1934, it was inspired by a visit the Cardinal Cerejeira, Patriarch of Lisbon, made to the Christ Of Corcovado in Rio de Janeiro.
