Eurovision Song Contest 2018

The Eurovision Song Contest 2018 will be the 63rd edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It will take place for the first time in Portugal following the country’s first victory at the 2017 contest in Kiev, Ukraine with the song “Amar pelos dois”, performed by Salvador Sobral. The contest will be held at the Altice Arena (20,000 capacity is one of the largest indoor arenas in the EU) in Lisbon and will consist of two semi-finals on 8 and 10 May and a grand final on Saturday, May 12th 2018. In the contest will participate 43 countries and no country will be withdrawing from the contest. The impressive stage this year is designed to look like the hull of a ship, reflecting Portugal’s rich history and culture. Lisbon’s main squares, the Praça do Comércio is being transformed into a Eurovision Village. Portugal has chosen four female hosts for this year’s Song Contest – TV presenter and 2017 Portuguese Jury spokesperson Filomena Cautela, the country’s Strictly Come Dancing, Masterchef, Top Chef and Portugal’s Got Talent host Sílvia Alberto, NCIS: Los Angeles star Daniela Ruah (who grew up in Portugal) and TV presenter and actress Catarina Furtado.

1st SEMI-FINAL First half: Belarus , Bulgaria, Lithuania, Albania, Czech Republic, Belgium, Iceland, Azerbaijan, Israel, Estonia Second half: Switzerland , Finland, Austria, Ireland, Armenia, Cyprus, Croatia, Greece, F.Y.R. Macedonia
2nd SEMI-FINAL First half: Russia, Serbia, Denmark, Romania, Australia, Norway, Moldova, San Marino, The Netherlands Second half: Montenegro, Sweden, Hungary, Malta, Latvia, Georgia, Poland, Slovenia, Ukraine

  • – 8 of May, 19:30 – Live Show of Semifinal 1

  • – 10 of May, 13:30 – Family Show of Semifinal 2
  • – 10 of May, 19:30 – Live Show of Semifinal 2
  • – 11 of May, 19:30 – Jury Show of Grande Final
  • – 12 of May, 12:30 (schedule TBC) – Family Show of the Grand Final
  • – 12 of May, 19:30 – Live Show of the Grand Final

Each one of the shows has the live presentation of the participating songs from the 43 countries, as well as pre-recorded videos and live performances from guest stars soon to be announced.

11 MAY – GRAND FINAL JURY SHOW 7:30 PM Show for the Jury: This show takes place the night before the Live Show and has this name because it is where the juries from each country see for the first time the parade of songs in the competing in the final. During the Jury Show the voting decisions are not yet known.

12 MAY – GRAND FINAL FAMILY SHOW 12:30 PM Family Show: This show is aimed at families to be held the afternoon before the live show and is similar to the evening although there are no votes yet.

12 MAY – GRAND FINAL LIVE SHOW 19:30 PM Live Show: This is the live show that will be broadcast live on RTP1 and where the final votes will be awarded and the winners will be known.
