This year, the Sintra Mountains will shine like never before! The Pena National Palace presents a new nighttime light show. This creation is exclusive to the 2025 edition of “Sintra Magic – Once Upon a Magical Christmas”.
For the first time, visitors will be able to discover this icon of Portuguese romanticism in a new light — literally. The nighttime tour invites you to explore the palace in an immersive and enchanting atmosphere, transforming its colors and architectural details into a truly luminous setting.
The installation, developed exclusively for this event, highlights the monument’s famous colorful silhouette and creates a surprising visual connection between Pena Park, the village, and the Sintra Mountains. The result? A dreamlike walk that connects four of the region’s most emblematic monuments and offers a new perspective on this magical landscape.

The Christmas spirit continues at the Picadeiro in Pena Park, where the festive atmosphere comes alive with a traditional carousel, delicious street food, music, and entertainment for all ages. It’s the perfect place to extend your visit and celebrate Christmas in a welcoming and magical setting.
Night visits take place during the month of December, between 6 pm and 9 pm, with free entry to Pena Park on the following dates: December 4 and 5, 11 and 12, 13, 18 and 19, 20, 26 and 27.
To make the experience even more convenient and sustainable, there will be a bus service between the village of Sintra and Pena Park, with the last bus leaving the park at 10:30 pm.
